Virtual Week of Workshops


We understand that even in a normal year the college search and application process can be confusing and even intimidating. Our Admissions Staff enjoy working with students and their families to help you through this journey. We are offering a week of general, virtual information sessions focusing on different parts of the college search and application process, culminating in a case study event where you will act as an admissions committee and make admissions decisions on mock applicants. Sessions will take place Monday, August 10th through Thursday, August 13th. Each session will last approximately one hour, except for the case study event which will last an hour and a half. Monday, August 10th

Application Deadlines 5:00PM

When should I apply to certain colleges and under what deadline plan should I apply? What is the difference between Early Decision and Early Action? Our experienced Admissions Professionals will answer these questions and more in this session. Click on the calendar below to register.

Navigating the College Search Process in the Time of COVID-19 5:00PM

Join Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid, Dr. Brenda Poggendorf, as she talks about the challenges - and benefits - of the college search process in the context of COVID-19. The Importance of "Demonstrated Interest" and the Campus Visit 6:00PM
A lot of colleges and universities look at "demonstrated interest" as part of the application process but what does this mean? In this session our counselors will explain the concept of demonstrated interest as well as how to best take advantage of a visit to a college or university campus. Click on the

Wednesday, August 12th

Essay Writing and the Common Application 5:00PM

A lot of students stress and struggle over the essay portion of the college application. What topic should I write about? How long does the essay need to be? Should I answer any of the supplemental essay questions? In this sessions we will answer all your questions about the infamous college essay and how admission counselors review essays. We will also give some do's and don'ts of the Common Application. Click on the

Financial Aid 6:00PM
A member of our Financial Aid Team will give a general overview of the college scholarship and financial aid process. We will talk to you about the importance of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and when to file it. Click on the

Thursday, August 13th:

Case Study Event 5:00PM

Get an inside view of how admissions decisions are made. You and your family will act as the Admissions Committee to review mock files and make final admissions decisions. This session will last an hour and a half and you will be asked to participate in the discussion. Click on the calendar below to register.
